Eyewear quality control for an OEM or ODM order begins with the buyer-approved physical sample and written specification. Project checkpoints may cover materials, dimensions, assembly, lenses, logos, appearance and packaging. The inspection method, sampling level, evidence and destination-market testing are agreed for the final product rather than assumed from a general factory claim.

Quality begins before production.

A custom frame cannot be inspected consistently without agreed requirements for materials, dimensions, colors, lenses, logos, packaging and acceptable variation. The approved physical sample together with the written production specification should provide the main reference. Any approved change should also be documented.

Specification control

Depending on the order, the reference package may include the approved sample, drawing or measurement table, material direction, frame and temple colors, lens requirements, logo artwork and placement, surface appearance, components, packaging and requested inspection or testing instructions.

Material and component review

Relevant inputs may be compared with the agreed project information. Acetate review can include visible color, pattern, transparency and frame-to-temple relationship. Metal review can include construction direction, components, surface color, temple tips and nose-pad route. Lens and logo components are reviewed against the ordered direction.

In-process checkpoints

Depending on the project, checks may cover visible workmanship, frame-front shape, temple alignment, bridge and rim appearance, hinge movement, component position, surface appearance, color consistency, lens fitting, and logo position or readability. The inspection frequency depends on construction, quantity, identified risks and the agreed plan.

Assembly and function

An assembled frame may be reviewed for temple opening and closing, general hinge function, temple position, lens seating, applicable nose-pad position, decorative-part security, general alignment and obvious sharp edges or surface defects. These are review directions, not a universal published test standard.

Appearance and branding

Appearance review may include cleanliness, visible marks, frame and temple finish, color relationships, lens appearance, print readability, engraving effect and metal-decoration position. Printed, laser and metal applications behave differently on each material, so the approved physical sample establishes the intended result.

Packing and shipment review

Where packaging is included, the plan may confirm the correct model and color, demo lenses, case, pouch, cloth, cards, labels, quantities, carton marking and visible packing condition. A pre-shipment inspection arrangement can be included in the agreed order plan. Packaging review does not establish transport-test performance unless that testing is specified.

Customer-defined inspection

Make acceptance criteria part of the order.

A buyer may provide its own checklist, measurements, sampling plan, acceptance level or third-party inspection company. These requirements should be submitted before order confirmation so scope, timing, responsibility and cost can be included in planning.

Depending on the agreement, the plan may include comparison with an approved sample, defined measurement points, a specified inspection sample size, pre-shipment review, third-party access, required product testing, or photo and summary records. We do not state that a particular AQL level, retained sample or third-party inspection is automatically included.

Where third-party testing is requested, the test scope, laboratory, samples, destination-market standard, timing and cost are agreed separately. Testing statements apply only to the identified product and order.

Timing and scope

Quality requirements affect planning.

Typical MOQ starts from 300 pairs per style in total, with colors combined, subject to materials and components. Sampling typically takes 7–10 working days after requirements are confirmed. Bulk production typically takes around 25 working days after sample approval and production details are confirmed.

Under standard project conditions, available capacity can reach approximately 1,000 pairs per day. Additional checkpoints, third-party inspection, specialist tests, documentation, rework or approved changes can affect cost and timing. Lead times are production estimates, not shipment or arrival guarantees.

Final inspection scope, evidence and shipment-release arrangements should be stated in the quotation, order information or other agreed project document.

Frequently asked questions

Define the method
before production.

Do you follow a fixed AQL standard for every order?+

No fixed AQL level is represented as automatically included. If the buyer requires a particular sampling plan or acceptance level, it should be supplied and agreed before order confirmation.

Are all frames supplied with test reports?+

No. Test reports are not universal across products. Required standards, test scope, laboratory arrangements, samples, cost and timing must be confirmed for the relevant product and order.

What is the main quality reference for production?+

The approved physical sample together with the written production specification should form the primary reference. Any approved changes should also be recorded.

Can my inspection company check the order before shipment?+

A third-party pre-shipment inspection can be discussed. Access, timing, scope, sampling method, responsibility and cost must be agreed in advance.
